Sean Shibe recently joined the ranks of the most exciting and watchable young musicians to have
emerged in recent years. One of the first artists to return to the Wigmore Hall following the Covid-19
lockdown, he received a five-star review from The Guardian for his “irresistible style and authority… a
nonchalant virtuoso and boundary breaker”.
A hugely versatile musician, Sean Shibe was the first guitarist ever to be selected for BBC Radio 3’s New
Generation Artists scheme, to be awarded a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and, in 2018, to receive
the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Young Artists. In other words, we welcome a star who is very
much in the ascendant, in a programme that embraces a fascinating and accessible repertoire from across the centuries.
